Celebrate the Season with Model Trains, Unique Exhibits, and Festive Events in Chadds Ford

The holiday season is upon us, and there's no better place to immerse yourself in festive cheer than the Brandywine Museum of Art in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania.

From November 15, 2025, through January 4, 2026, the museum transforms into a winter wonderland, offering a variety of attractions and events for visitors of all ages.

One of the most anticipated features is the return of the Brandywine Railroad, an expansive O-gauge model train display that has been a cherished tradition since 1972.

This intricate setup boasts over 2,000 feet of track and more than 1,000 pieces, including locomotives, passenger and freight trains, and trolleys.

The trains navigate through meticulously crafted scenes featuring villages, farms, factories, a drive-in movie theater, and even a carnival.

Interactive elements allow visitors to engage with the display, making it a delightful experience for both children and adults.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, the museum introduces a new exhibition titled "Home for the Holidays: Cards and Hearths from the Collection".

This special exhibit showcases a selection of miniature dollhouse rooms, including two from a nine-foot dollhouse designed by Ann Wyeth McCoy and built by her husband, artist John McCoy.

These rooms are adorned with handmade furnishings and miniature paintings contributed by the Wyeth family, offering a glimpse into their intimate holiday gatherings.

The exhibition also features the debut of the Peters-Herdeg dollhouse, a detailed replica of an 18th-century Brandywine Valley home, along with original artworks created as designs for holiday cards by members of the Wyeth family and other prominent American illustrators.

For those looking to add a unique touch to their holiday décor, the museum's annual Holiday Critter Sale is a must-visit.

From November 20 to 23, 2025, visitors can browse and purchase thousands of handcrafted ornaments and tabletop decorations made from natural materials like teasel, pinecones, acorns, eggshells, flowers, and seed pods.

These distinctive "Critters" have been a beloved tradition since 1971, meticulously crafted by the museum's dedicated volunteers.

In addition to these exhibits, the museum offers a variety of special events throughout the season:

Sensory-Friendly Evenings: Brandywine Railroad
